San Diegan Charley Hoffman won today with a great eagle on the 18th hole to force a playoff.
I have to admit as I am writing this and I did not watch much of the event. I had it on in the early hours of today's round however my interest was lost on football and Country Club volunteering.
I am looking forward to next week when the Buick Invitational comes to town. I am even more excited to watch the Monday qualifiers tomorrow at my home course. (El Camino CC in Oceanside, CA) We host the qualifier every year and we have seen some good players come through. It is fun to watch pros play your home course and see where they hit it in comparison to your daily game. My wife and I spent an hour today filling divots at the club with 20 or so members to make the course more playable for the pros. I would like to see more participation next time from our members.
Silly tournaments like to Bob Hope are boring to me. I would love to know how many people really do watch and enjoy these events. I personally could care less if I see George Lopez swing a club only to do a little dance after. How is this entertaining let alone entertaining golf? When I turn on the tube I want to see great golf and great golfers.
I understand that some do enjoy these events so I don't mean to offend anyone I am simply getting this off of my chest. There is a good chance I won't watch the AT&T but if you see me in the grill room watching feel free to call me on it.
For now I will stick to the real tournaments. I may watch silly golf someday, however while I have other options it is hard for me to support these events.
