Tiger is off to Dubai and I have no doubt that we will put up another great showing and quite possibly another win. While Tiger and Ernie are battling it out in Dubai another great event will be played at the FBR in Scottsdale. Known as the wildest crowd in golf these fans are quite crazy for golf and more importantly crazy in love with booze and beer. If you have the opportunity to go see this event @ the TPC in Scottsdale please go. It doesn't matter where you are on the course; when the crowd at 16 gets going you can hear them cheering as far away as Tucson.
JB Holmes returns to defend his title and will more than likely "Grip it and Rip it" as will big John Daly. Thanks to the Golf Channel for airing both events. Check out there site for times.
This is a great week for golf viewership so go watch. No silly golf here, just great golf.

Tiger who?
I ask this questions as I am in ah that he has won yet another event. This makes seven straight wins and three in a row at Torrey Pines. He deserve his own parking spot at the club for yet another new Buick. My wife was at the tournament on Saturday and saw the new Buick SUV. I think they will need to design a new car, suv or even a new automobile category for him if he can keep winning this event. My hat is off to the others who played and played well. Jamie Lovemark who I mentioned in an earlier post shot a four day total of three under par to beat Phil by two strokes.
Tiger has played in one event and has one win. I predict a ten win season this year for the man in red which two to three will be majors. I have no factual data and or stats simply a feeling that this will be a very good year for Tiger.

Buick Qualifiers
Last Monday El Camino CC hosted the qualifier for the pros who were trying to find there way to Torry Pines. Out of a large field we saw four players advance with some pretty impressive scores. Han Lee posted a 66 @ 6 under par which included 6 birdies, and eagle and a double.
Tommy Armour III also shot a 66 with six birdies. Jamie Lovemark qualified as did Kyle Reifers with 67s.
I just checked the scores and here is what they shot...
Han Lee shot 67,75 to miss the cut by one.
Tommy Armour III shot 68,73 to make the cut.
Jamie Lovemark shot 66,74 to make the cut as an amateur.
and Kyle Reifers missed the cut shooting 77,77 respectfully.
Best of luck to the two qualifiers.

Great Story
The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of CoffeeWhen things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded t o fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed."Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things- GOD, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions--and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.The sand is everything else--the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.""Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first--the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Silly Golf
San Diegan Charley Hoffman won today with a great eagle on the 18th hole to force a playoff.
I have to admit as I am writing this and I did not watch much of the event. I had it on in the early hours of today's round however my interest was lost on football and Country Club volunteering.
I am looking forward to next week when the Buick Invitational comes to town. I am even more excited to watch the Monday qualifiers tomorrow at my home course. (El Camino CC in Oceanside, CA) We host the qualifier every year and we have seen some good players come through. It is fun to watch pros play your home course and see where they hit it in comparison to your daily game. My wife and I spent an hour today filling divots at the club with 20 or so members to make the course more playable for the pros. I would like to see more participation next time from our members.
Silly tournaments like to Bob Hope are boring to me. I would love to know how many people really do watch and enjoy these events. I personally could care less if I see George Lopez swing a club only to do a little dance after. How is this entertaining let alone entertaining golf? When I turn on the tube I want to see great golf and great golfers.
I understand that some do enjoy these events so I don't mean to offend anyone I am simply getting this off of my chest. There is a good chance I won't watch the AT&T but if you see me in the grill room watching feel free to call me on it.
For now I will stick to the real tournaments. I may watch silly golf someday, however while I have other options it is hard for me to support these events.

Couldn't Score
I played Thursday team play yesterday and I could not find a putting stroke to save my life or my score. The day started off with a long car ride and a shotgun start on the 18th hole. When I striped a drive down the middle and hit a two iron to the middle of the green I thought I was on fire. A two putt birdie and I was off to a great start. We turned to the 1st hole, another par 5 and it seemed to fall apart from there. I will save some time here and say that I managed to birdie my first hole and I shot 80.
My thanks to Jim Myers who tried his best to carry me in our team game and a special thanks to the members and staff at County Club of Rancho Bernardo for putting on a great tournament.
We play Bernardo Heights next week and I intend to putt and score much better.
